Dennis Gordon said:Figure on using a 3800+ and a decent MATX board to build him a small gaming rig. Where can I look for some small cases that won't take up much space?
Dennis Gordon said:Now how did I miss these? I did a quick Newegg search and all I found were ATX cases. Thanks. The puny PSUs are a bit of a concern though.
I recently built a computer for my niece in this In-Win case. The PSU is actually pretty decent, and airflow's pretty good.Dennis Gordon said:Where can I look for some small cases that won't take up much space?
Posting to show my support for the idea. Even for us non-newcomers a central place for asking questions a bit outside our knowledge area on a persistent topic such as this sounds like a good thing. If this had been here when I started my thread, I would have put it in here instead.Qtip42 said:Do you need a new case? Need advice on a purchase? Need other's opinions of said case?
POST IT HERE! Modders are standing by to answer.
(this is just a temp thread to see if it might help the newcomers out...)
Orange isn't really a color you'll find on non-crazy ass cases, s if you were lookign for a mnore sedate look, you aren't gonan be in too much luck, but here's a few orange(-ish) ones I dug up.dsc220 said:Does anybody know of any orange colored ATX cases? I know I could always paint but I don't feel like it.
So any help?
Actually, I disagree. Combining all the case inquiries into one thread would make it a disorganised mess of quoting with a whole bunch of people asking questions and giving answers at the same time. Basically, it would get completely jumbled. However, it may be a good idea to make a subforum for general case discussion, and make the parent forum for modding-related threads only. That would separate the modding from the case questions, and also allow different people to have their own threads about different questions.Qtip42 said:Apparently none of the new people read stickied threads so I'm going to let this go. I really wish this kind of thread would take off, it would save people time and also stop people from making cynical comments.
You've already hit on a few important factors--airflow and aesthetics. Also, you might consider whether a removable motherboard tray is important to you, whether you want tool-less drive mounting, how moddable it is, and the overall size. Make sure you also have a decent power supply. Check on ease-of-use--is mounting hard drives easy? Is the HD cage(s) removable so you can put the drives in more easily?dust said:building a new rig and i can spend under 200$ on a case i like the thermal take Thermaltake Armor Series VA8000BWS Black Aluminum/Steel ATX Full Tower

and i read that its a good case i want a powerful case to keep my new parts cool and a awsome looking case and i like that one but anything else i should consider?
A quick search doesn't turn up anything besides Lian-Li cases unless you can use some of your 5.25" bays for hard drives (like these)Rembrandt said:I am looking for a quiet case for my 11 HDs, 2 DVD drives and a floppy. Right now I feel that I am stuck with Lian-Li 12 disk rack products as my only alternatives. I love Lian-Li cases and own a smaller case from them but want other opinions on alternatives. I do not want to go over $300 if possible.
600 watts is overkill unless you've got a huge stack of hard drives you're spinning up at once or unless you're running a peltier off it. What CPU and video card are you planning on using?dust said:for a power supply im not going to stick w/ that stock thermal take i will probably upgrade to a higher thermal take power supply or a seagate something like that. looking for at least 600 watts for my power supply.
