The next generation of games to be like this?

And once again, a simple gaming topic turns into console vs pc gamer e-penis wacking contest, typical [H]

Isn't much to contest, game sales and where devs focus their attention speaks the world. One group is winning, the other has quasi bald hardware fanatics that run a website insulting crytek and throwing tempertantrums as their mascot, it's not a fair contest.

Now, the latter side could get off their high horse and start pushing for a solid platform, fixing it's problems, and not trying to run it in the ground via hardware fetish... or they could continue to drive the steak through the heart of the hobby they care about. Choice is in their court.

The shameful part of this is you made some really good points, but then you decided to turn to the oh-so-frequent tactic of insulting people.

Consoles aren't stopping this at all. If there was money and they could do it, they would have. The simple fact of the matter is there is no money in making a game that could do this. Even if the console market didn't exist, most PCs sold today don't have the video power to do this, or anything that advanced, and couldn't be upgraded to do it either, they are laptops and thin and light desktops.

The truth of the matter is the PC gaming market imploded and died off when a gaming PC started to become extremely different from the PC most people want, a low power laptop.

There isn't a market large enough in PC gaming to make developing AAA titles that push things like that worth it, unless you want to bankrupt your company.

The PC as a platform is the problem, not the consoles. Be glad for consoles, because it's that platform, the better platform for developers, that will make creating a game like this worth doing. The PC as a platform just doesn't have enough high end boxes out there to make sales on something like this worth it, and that trend is only going to continue.

 Total BS in my opinion......
