The Official Core 2 OverClocking Database *READ 1st Post for Instructions*

Whats with the attitude? I would always try a $30 solution over a $230 solution.

I believe that in his particular case, he's not going to get a better overclock by cooling his board chipsets. To me, it looks like his board is his limiting factor now. Granted, I don't know for sure, which is why it'll be good to see.

jimbean - Did you increase the voltage on your NB to get that overclock?

what's the highest FSB anyone has gotten on a P35?

I'm running my E6550 at 505x7=3535 right now and its solid but if I try and bump it up to 515 i don't get a post... I have OCZ 1066 ram so it should be able to handle more than this 1:1. I'm hoping i didn't run into an FSB wall, this cpu seems like it still has more room! (i still haven't touched the volts on it yet, 1.35v got me up to 3535)

Yeah, but by how much I don't remember.

In perfect testbed situation the DFI LanParty UT P35-T2R with Oscar Wu behind the wheel, accheived 660+ FSB. Now, granted that was cherry picked everything and probably not the best to represent what is the norm. But it is looking like the high 500's is not impossible. usually your CPU will wall before the DFI will.

I can POST at 4Ghz, but I freeze once windows loads. I don't feel like giving it more than 1.55v, so I settled for 3.8Ghz. My FSB wall was 528Mhz, 6x528 @ 1.35v. My VID is 1.35v... so high! :(

Temps, in case anyone was wondering (using CoreTemp 0.95.4 beta):
27°C - Idle

For those of you who can tolerate living in Florida, I salute you! I hate this place :( Florida turn pike can kiss my ass!

Good thing I don't have to stay here long.

Heh.

I wonder what I could do with a multiplier of 9 like that e6750 up there...with my FSB, you think 4 Ghz is possible?
What's the max multi on the 6750/6850?

All you need for 4Ghz is 500Mhz base FSB with an E6750 (and a low VID, lol, unless you don't mind feeding it more voltage). I can reach it and get into windows, but I don't like how much voltage it needs for that speed with my chip.

E6750 max multiplier: 8x
E6850 max multiplier: 9x

My highest FSB at a multi of 9 would put that at over 4.2 Ghz, lol. Assuming of course that it would RUN at that speed..and the chip didn't wall or something. I will feed it however much voltage it wants to run, I don't care. I've got water now, and I'm adding more as we go along.

Something to consider in the future :)

i think i have one of the best bang per buck setups here. CPU = $163.00, mobo = $99.99 and i run 457mhz(4-4-3-5)x7 = 3.2Ghz, 1.375v.

thanks Evoic and turtletrax.... sometimes its actually hard for me to update the db at times when i get so busy.. but i always make time for it and update at least once a week if some of you notice.. on the sidelines we (GuamServer.com) run pc gaming tournaments so that keeps me busy as well as running a 24/7 gaming server for the island here... also busy with work as we all are but to me this is a time for me just to sit down... relax... read you guys posts... find out how the newer processors are doing and so on.. at the same time i learn from you guys on how you use your skills to overclock.. i consider myself a novice overclocker i did back in the day started to oc a P4 and 200mhz was crazy oc! haha....

What Mobo are you trying to get 1200Mhz on? If a decent board just about any GMH will do so.

P5B Deluxe. I've had 2 sets of Mushkin Redlines (GMH) that wouldn't get past 1100 MHz or so, which is where my current OC stands. I could risk buying some ballistix or the like and trying again, but I'd like something guaranteed.

Have you tried Memset to loosen secondary timings?

I've only adjusted BIOS settings for RAM. I like to do my memory stability testing using memtest 86+ before Windows even boots up. This may not be the best way to squeeze every MHz from the RAM though.

I've also tempted fate again by buying 2x512MB PC2 6400 crucial ballistix sticks that people claim are the golden child of the overclocking gods. Ehh, if it goes sour, they were only $35. ;)

I know that if this fails me again I'm going to be forced to get some real 1200 MHz stuff and not leave my CPU overclocking depending on the overclockability of the RAM. Or maybe I'll say F it and get a new CPU with a higher multi.

I didn't notice my Arctic silver change too much after settling and I began overclocking the next day after mounting. Is there much noticeable difference really?

I finally started moving down the volts so can the OP change my voltage to 1.376v under the Dethred Q6600 entry? Thanks!

Both water blocks I ordered and my Ceramique as well as a few fans all arrived today...just need some tubing and i'll be set....won't be able to install it until i get back from chicago though :(

Gives me something to look forward to though, big project ahead to see if i can get past where I'm at!

Ive heard people say they see 4-5C of a difference, I think AS themselves say its optimal after a 300 Hour burn-in.

From my experience, after a few days of overclock testing and CPU heating and cooling, (maybe 100 Hours), temps may decrease by 2 degrees at most, its something! :)

My post above has an ambient of 23C and a max temp of 70C, right now the ambient is 24C and the max temp is still 70C, I suspect it has to do with a slight AS5 improvement!
