thinking of vista, need quick advice

so i'm going to be getting a 64 ver. of vista, but what i'm trying to figure out is what type of changes to expect. i keep hearing about all these relatively minor things

Is the file system winFE or not? i know it was originally intended to be
I've heard rumors of file incapability between xp and vista- true or not?

and finally,

whats the difference between home pro and ultimate that should entice me to swing the extra money? is it really worth it.

- Not WinFE
- 100%Compatible with WinXP
- Ultimate not worth it imho unless you need MediaCenter AND Domain functionality. The goodies that come with Ultimate are not worth the premium price tag.

Good question. My guess is that they couldn't finish it in time to make it compatible enough for mainstream and scratched the idea in favor of a release date that is reasonable.
