See title.

Error message:

0x80004005 - 0x20004
The installation failed in the SAFE_OS phase with an error during INSTALL_RECOVERY_ENVIRONMENT operation

Can't figure this one out. Searches mention hardware incompatibilities (fingerprint scanner, etc...), but no documented solution seems to be working for me so far.

Ideas?

had the same error on a MSI GE70 laptop.

gave up, then clean installed Windows 8.1, and upgraded to windows 10 just fine after that :)
