To OC. or Not to OC, that is the question.

Hey guys, thinking about overclocking my desktop at work (HP). What do you think? It is sometimes slow when I have a lot of apps open because it is just a 1.5MHz P4. Wonder if anyone would know if I managed to fuck it up. I could probably OC it a couple hundred MHz right?

You could probably throw it in the POOL and they wouldn't notice :D.

As long as it's not "locked" in the BIOS (lots are) you should be able to.

If it is, Clockgen might be your friend ;).

If it's an HP, you're pretty much stuck where you're at unless clockgen supports the pll that's used on the mb.

First-gen P4s were pretty bad overclockers. Even if you bothered to get ClockGen configured for it, I doubt you'd get very good results, especially on stock cooling.

Just ask IT for an upgrade. Remember... if you are nice to IT they will hook you up.
