Trashing Hardware

I was cleaning out my garage today and I am wondering what people do with all their old eleectronics that are impossible to resell, like old printers, broken LCDs, PSUs and DVD players. I checked my local sanitation dept, but it seems like they only collect it once a year in may. Where else do people go?

If its too obsolete to use, and no one I know wants it, I take it to a local ewaste collection facility. Most will take computer and electronic components without any charge.

This stuff shouldn't end up in a landfill because it has toxic stuff like heavy metals that can leech into the water supply.
