Trimming clips from a DVD

I often create my own DVDs from my camcorder of family events. I'd like to be able to separate them out into individual movie clips, preferably mpgs, but I could probably handle any normal format. What's the best software to do this? These DVDs aren't copy-protected in anyway. Thanks.

most big name video programs will handle a function like that.

Each peep has their own opinion on which is the best. I like pinnacle studio, but it does take a while to encode.

tmpgenc dvd author will also handle your clipping needs, with less flexibility.
