Based on a few web reviews this product seems like a good buy, especially since Performance PCs is selling it for $39.99!!

I find it hard pressed to purchase the Thermalright HR-03 Plus @ $54.99 ... do you guys think it's worth it?

Considering that the Thermaltake unit is SMALLER (more compact) and offers pretty good performance.

Has anyone tried mounting this unit on a 8800GT OR 8800GTX?

I'm up for it. I actually think it's a pretty slick design. Looks like a pretty simple install too. I'm just more worried about getting the stock cooler off.

Seems like the product works well with the 8800GT I'm just worried if it can handle a GTX properly.

$40 isn't that bad. As noted the HR03 is $45-55 - NOT including a fan. They make great products, but I still think they're overpriced a bit - and I've owned an SK7 & SLK900.

If you want cheap, try the Accelero S1 - $17.75 from Ewiz (go through froogle, otherwise $18.28). Fits the 8800GT, and the things pretty damned big. Took my 7900GT from 80+ -> 50ish; currently @ 36c @ desktop in Vista - bit of a cold morning 57f now. And the 8800 doesn't draw all that much more power over my card, given the die shrink. If you're worried about temps, have crappy case cooling or just want to be on the safe side, you can grab a 120mm fan or 2. Yate Loon 120mm's can be had for ~$3-5/ea from the likes of jab-tech, petra's tech, performance-pcs, frozen cpu, etc.

[edit] Note: you may need to get some extra heatsinks somewhere. IIRC, it only comes w/ 8, and the 8800GT will likely take a few more, to include the MOSFETs.
