Two dimms per channel running at 1333MHz possible???

I find that both Supermicro and Intel claim that with Xeon 5600-series CPUs, they can support two DIMMs per channel both running at 1333MHz. But Tyan says they only support two DIMMs per channel both running at 1066MHz. So I wrote an email to Tyan to ask them why this is so. They replied that they tested Supermicro and Intel boards and they all downclock the DIMMs to 1066MHz. So who is lying here??? Supermicro's docs seem to be very explicit about the fact that they can have two DIMMs per channel both at 1333MHz

Anyone knows??

=== UPDATE Ben Yeh: 2010/06/11 02:16

Dear customer:
After we check these boards, they will also downgrade the speed of memory dimms. We also follow the same spec from Intel board. Therefore, this is the normal behavior.
Thank's for your some ideas.

Supermicro X8DTH board supports 2 DIMMs per channel at 1333MHz with 5600 Xeons:

http://www.supermicro.com/manuals/mo...0/MNL-1083.pdf

This intel page also says S5520SC supports 2 DIMMs per channel at 1333MHz with 5600 Xeons:

http://www.intel.com/cd/channel/rese...eon/440942.htm

It seems like no Tyan board can do this????

=== UPDATE Ben Yeh: 2010/05/14 02:00

Dear customer:
Our board follow Intel Nehalem spec to make. Therefore, the memory speed will drop to 1066 MHZ when you using two dimms per channel. If you want to run 1333mhz, we suggest that you can run one dimm per channel whether you used Nehalem CPU or Westmere CPU. Would you mind also letting us know which SuperMicro board or Intel board can run 1333 MHZ from 2 dimms per channel?
Thank you.

I am wondering whether the Tyan S7010 board with Intel Xeon 5600 series CPUs supports two DIMMs per channel running at 1333MHz???

The user manual says both will run at 1066MHz. But similar Super Micro board or Intel Board say they can have two DIMMs per channel running at 1333MHz.

I see that there is a new BIOS update that added the support for Westmere CPUs (ie 5600 series). Does that update allows two DIMMs per channel running at 1333MHz??

Thanks
