Undervolting causes damage?

I phoned Crucial and asked them about the high rate of customer complaints for Ballistix memory modules, and the company actually admitted it was true and blamed undervolting as the cause. They said Ballistix has to be run at its rated voltage of 2.0V or 2.2V, not at the 1.8V default that most mobos use, unless it's run at slower than rated speed.

I've never heard of undervolting causing chip damage, but I'm no expert.

Complaints != damage. Complaints means it crashes, hangs, or is unreliable at the rated timings so people *think* it's defective. Run at 2.0V and it works properly.

I have to run my OCZ Platinum Rev 2 at 2.0V instead of SPD voltage to get rated 4-4-4-15 too.

Undervolting doesnt cause damage.
It can impair function though.
