I have the system listed in my sig...Last updated Oct of 2008

Core 2 Duo E8400 @ 525x8 =4.2Ghz
Gigabyte EP45-UD3P
Corsair Dominator 4GB (2 x 2GB) PC2 8500 2.1V
PowerColor 4870x2
150GB Western Digital Raptor
500GB Western Digital 5000AAKS
Westinghouse LVM-37w3 Monitor (1080P)
620W Corsair PowerSupply
Silverstone TJ09 Case
Windows Vista 64

My pcie is 2.0 compliant but with 2 vid cards the slots run at 8x 8x. I game at 1920x1080.

I have about $500-$600 available to use for an upgrade. The system will be used for gaming.

Where do you think my money would be best spent to upgrade the above specs to be able to run the games of 2011 on very high detail settings?

Thanks!

I Would think if you can score a 775 quad for 100 bucks (I believe there has been a couple deals recently) and a pair of GTX 460 1gb's

GTX 460 SLI wouldn't work here: His motherboard doesn't support it.

Where is this system letting you down?

Good question

As of now its not letting me down at all...The games I have now all run fine and I overclock the 4870x2

I just feel an upgrade bug coming on lol

and yes I would buy used, have no probs with that...

well tbh if the system isnt letting you down you owe it to yourself to stay with it. Both Intel and AMD have new sockets and cpus coming in the Q2 ish. I think its the best to stay put for now.
