What's the best (relatively speaking) card for under (a must) $100 that will make my gaming experience a bit better... Currently playing COD2 like 99.9%, so it's not the lates'n'gratest games, but the server I play (99.9% of the time) is introducing some new, beg and very demanding maps... My AIW 1900 is definitely showing its age on those...
Whatcha guys think...?

Thanks

I hate to ask this but as you didn't say what is the rest of your system look like? need more info to give you a good answer. However the short answer is a 4850 is the best card you can get under a hundred. though other cards may suit you better (for instance if you have a junk PSU a 4670 is about the best card you can get without needing a PCI-e cord)

but please list

power supply type and wattage
cpu
memory
motherboard
OS
case (how much room you have)

The AIW X1900 uses about the same amount of power as the HD 4850 (actually a little less).

The HD 4830 would be a safer bet and so would the slower HD 4670.

Overall, I think your X1900 is somewhat comparable to the HD 4650 to put things in perspective. The AIW X1900 is a slower version of the X1900XT.

I would even suggest the 9800gt or if you can get a 260 used for $100. Great cards

actually I have it as being quite a bit faster, at least in half life 2.and much faster then what he has though (his card seems quite it bit slower then the parent card) buts its the only bench I have for both and quite a distance apart in time so I can't say. nothing direct here but it does show the 4670 cleaning its clock (bad pun I know)

I don't know about the power but anything 4670 and up is going to be a nice upgrade if he has a decent cpu. the 4830 is not a bad suggestion either if he has a PCIe cable

get used hd 4850. got lucky and picked up used hd4770 for $65 shipped, working great btw.

Since the AIW X1900 is a slower version of the X1900XT it is likely to consume less power than the X1900XT as well as less power than the HD 4850.

Forgot I took them out my sig a while ago...

Nothing special:

P965 mobo
E7200 @ 3.8GHz
2GB
19" monitor - gaming res: 1280x1024

Thanks for all the suggestions so far...
Let me ask this: Would a 9600GT be a decent upgrade? They go for ~$60 on eBay

^^^

Yep. The 9600GT is more powerful than the X1900XT. It's more powerful than the HD 4670, but less powerful than the HD 4830/4770/4850.

55 dollars AR 4670
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814127448 for the low end and just fine on your current monitor.

if your going to upgrade your monitor or just want a better card (overkill for your current for the most part here is a 4850 a hundred buck http://www.ewiz.com/detail.php?p=PC...f7caa2923e32a2363dd8318eab565ccca30123f09a9e7 if you look around you can shave about 10 or so off that.

the problem with the 9600GT is that its overpriced for its market placement. you can get a 4850 or a 4830 for a little more and use there is not much difference either. it is faster then the 4670 but requires a PCIe cable. if you can get one cheap its not a bad little card
