At the moment I have :

Cheap motherboard
Pentium 4 3.0Ghz w/ arctic cooling freezer 7 pro
1 Gb cheap ram
2 x 200gb maxtor
7900gs 256mb
Enermax Liberty 500w

I'm going to keep the hard drives, graphics card and psu but I really need to upgrade my cpu, mobo and ram.

I was thinking of getting

(£10 off this week...not sure about ram - advise please!)

Opinions? Thanks

Looks good to me. But if you're planning on overclocking, I recommend going with either E4400 or E750 since those CPUs would be easier to O.C than the E6550.

does anyone know if an ultra 120 (normal or extreme) will fit in a super lanboy? need a quick reply please!

I agree, go with the E4400 or E6750 instead of the E6550. The 7x CPU Multiplier makes that chip harder to OC. You won't need the Ultra 120 Extreme if you go with the E6550, lol.

It should fit fine.

(CPU Multiplier) x [Base FSB speed] = CPU Clock speed
2 x [Base FSB speed] = RAM speed
4 x [Base FSB speed] = Effective FSB speed

On Intel platforms, running the RAM higher than a 1:1 ratio with the CPU is useless. Keep it linked at 1:1. These are some common possible speeds. Keep in mind that OC'ing is never guaranteed:

E4400: 10 × 200 = 2.0Ghz, DDR2-400 << STOCK speeds
E4400: 10 × 266 = 2.6Ghz, DDR2-533 << Easy OC
E4400: 10 × 333 = 3.3Ghz, DDR2-667 << Great OC

E6550: 7 × 333 = 2.3Ghz, DDR2-667 << STOCK speeds
E6550: 7 × 400 = 2.8Ghz, DDR2-800 << Easy OC
E6550: 7 × 465 = 3.2Ghz, DDR2-930 << Good OC
E6550: 7 × 500 = 3.5Ghz, DDR2-1000 << Great OC

E6750: 8 × 333 = 2.6Ghz, DDR2-667 << STOCK speeds
E6750: 8 × 400 = 3.2Ghz, DDR2-800 << Easy OC
E6750: 8 × 450 = 3.6Ghz, DDR2-900 << Good OC
E6750: 8 × 500 = 4.0Ghz, DDR2-1000 << Great OC
