Hey all,

When I plug in a new Thumb Drive, I get a warning "Speed is reduced to not being a high-speed 2.0 USB port.. blah blah." Thing is, I have not had this problem before and can't seem to fix it.

My laptop uses it fine as a 2.0, but I have no idea why it won't work on my desktop. Using the USB ports off my Ultra-D, and I have even installed the USB drivers on the disc that comes with it, to no avail.

Any help would be appreciated!

Thats becuse the usb you are putting it in isn't 2.0. ITs probably 1.1. It should still work just not run as fast.

Did you try updating the USB controller drivers under device manager? Worked for me when I was getting 1.1 speed with my 2.0 thumb drive.

See that you tried updating to the Microsoft drivers, over the drivers from supplied disc, from Device Manger already, might try this once again.....but:

Unplug ALL USB devices.
Open Device Manager.
View, Show Hidden Devices.
Uninstall all devices under USB Controllers.
Say no to any reboot prompts until you are finished.
If you have a yellow ? with unknown devices, uninstall all of the entries there as well.

Reboot, than Reconnect the USB devices and see if they're recognized properly.

Running XP with SP1 or SP2, check to verify that you have these USB 2.0 drivers from the Device Manager:

Date Version File name
29-Aug-2002 5.1.2600.1106 or later versions Usbport.sys
