VIA VT1708S on board vs HT Striker

The HT striker uses the CMedia chip which I believe is the same as on the Asus Xonars. The VIA chip is predominantly on ASRock and Asus boards. It like Realtek is sufficient. However HT's implementation of the CMedia chip may not be any better then onboard. What makes the performance of the cmedia on Asus' Xonar so special is the super high quality DAC's Asus uses which means the analog audio especially clean on the Xonars. No gaurantee HT will use the same quality DACs. I would go either onboard or if you want to use a dedicated card get an X-Fi.
