I am looking for a new card to put in my rig in sig. The ole 8800gt is really showing it's age, even at my tiny 1280x720 res. I am fine with buying a used card it doesnt have to be new and can be a gen or 2 older then the current stuff out now. I am really looking for something with a single 6 pin pci connector.

I will be buying a i5 2400 in january so dont worry about a bottleneck with my current cpu it wont be paired with it that long. Looking for bang for buck performance here. I will be playing these games
Fallout 3
fallout new vegas
saints row the third
modern warfare 3
cod 4
The current card runs cod4, fo3 and new vegas fine, with saints row I have to play with the settings on medium and low.

I dont know if I should just look into say a hd4870 or what. Obviously right now the cheaper the better and if I can get the card from someone here used that would be sweet. I am looking to buy the card tonight if possible

HD5770, HD6850 (1 6-pin connector)
GTX560, HD5850, HD6870 (2 6-pin connectors)

Celeron is holding back the 8800gt right now :p

what runt said

troll some other thread. The celeron is equal to a E7300 overclocked to 3ghz, I can hit 100% gpu usage in new vegas with max settings

I had a 5670 running with my i5-2500k (stock speeds), and it was easily able to handle HAWX2 @ 720p.. I believe I had everything cranked up to max and 2x AA and was running 50fps in the in-game bench.

5770 is considerably stronger than a 5670, and now that 5770's are coming down in price further, I wouldn't go any less than that.

Next notch up from there in both price and performance would be 6850, GTX 460, or 5850.

A 5770 worked good for me gaming at 1680 x 1050 so it should be plenty for your. I think you can also try gaming with the integrated graphics at the resolution. I have a 2500k and I overclocked the graphics and can run many games fine.

whats your price range? I will be posting a 5770 in the for sale section later let me know if you would be interested.

Find a 768MB GTX 460 and overclock it. Thing will be like a 570 at 1080p at that res and they regularly go for 100 if you can find one.

550ti single pin connector.

funny how some people have blatantly ignored the single power connector requirement.
