On 4/26/07, Vista randomly stopped detecting my CD/DVD drives. I used my CD burner a day or two before that to burn a video for my project, but now it won't work. Device manager says "Windows cannot initialize the device driver for this hardware. (Code 37)". I uninstalled the devices and let them reinstall in more than a few ways. They still don't work. I messed with the BIOS and switched the IDE cables around and it still doesn't work (I wasn't expecting it to anyways).

I'm running Vista Business.

My comp specs:

Dell Dimension 4600 (old and shitty, i know)

3.0ghz Intel P4 w/HT
1.0gb pc3200 ram
Radeon 9600xt 128mb agp

help?

I installed Vista on 2/2/07.

its happened to me in the past. sadly i cant remember what i did exactly to get the info to fix it. i did do a quick registry edit, restarted and i was good as new. im sorry i cant be of much help =( i grabbed the info from microsofts site so there is a solution there.

yeah, the solution they provide was the first thing I tried to do to fix it =( nothing about regedit
