I'm not sure if this is the best place to post this, but it relates to broadband.

Anyway, has anyone used the Vonage VOIP for their telephone? I stumbled across their site and was checking out what it is, and must say, it looks temping. However, Vonage being a European owned company, running out of Canada, covering the US, makes me a little leery.

I'm wondering about the quality of service, any hidden fees, any future issues that may affect this type of service, etc.

Here's the site I was looking at:

Just make sure your Internet connection is stable. I used them with Comcast cable and it worked great. Then I moved and used a high-speed wireless service and it sucked, because the wireless connection was fast but not very stable. i.e. it would drop packets.

I say try it. There is no contract so you can quit at anytime.

I used Packet8 for a month last year. The service and value is great, but my 128k cable modem upstream just didn't cut it, so after a month, I had to terminate my service.... I have since moved and now have 256k upstream, so I think I might give them another shot =)

I would love to use vondage to replace my home phone (hellsouth) but I have a crappy connection so thanks to jolly ol' mediacum, im damned if I do and damned if I dont.   ;)

I've had it since December and think it's great. Voice quality is excellent and I've only had one issue - my Motorola voice terminal crapped out on me. They overnighted me a replacement so I only went 1 day without it.

Here is the review I wrote about it for DT:

Those who had it, or have it, what is your cost and for how many minutes? Is the base price the real price, or is there a bunch of taxes and fees, etc.?
