I know SSDs are all the rage nowdays but for those of you who want the characteristics of spinners (gradual failure, heavy write endurance) and a nice 5 year warranty, these are only 50 clams new.

They still have their place. I bought one for use on XBOX ONE. It was cheaper then an SSD and the Xbone has a point of diminishing returns so that a SSD barely makes any difference. A 256GB SSD is still almost twice the price, and you still get less space.

i tend to use these in budget servers with an enterprise level ssd running the os and this handling apps/doc shares, works great in raid 1

i also still have a pair of these in raid 0 at home for games and work files.

If you have spinners adn don't need a lot of space the latency on these is def. noticeable and worth it imho if you can't get used/cheap sas ones :)

Those drives are last gen though.
I have a pair of the latest with 250g/platter and 64mb cache.

Read some who said the sustained is lower then the latest blacks.

Awesome....!
For the money, these are great "secondary PC" hard drives. I already have one from a year ago, and is still going strong in my "fart around" AMD rig, where load speeds are not a priority. My main Intel rig though is all SSD's..;)

Thanks OP.
