I'll skip the complete story. But I had to reinstall xp and did a partial format on one of the partitions on my 200 gig. When in DOS it only allowed me to format up to 136 or so gigs. I can't remember how to redo the hardrive without losing the info on the other partition that did not get reformated. ( I had use of all 200 gigs before.) I I'd like to get use of the entire drive again. One of my partitions is just under 100 gigs. The other is only 16 or so.

Appreciate the help. I know it is not difficult, I just can't remember. I have done some searches and cannot find the answer.

I figured it out. What is the 'logical drive' vs 'primary drive'?

a logical drive is a subdivision of an extended partition
a single primary partition on a given HDD is allowed to have an extended partition, and deleting that priimary orphans the extended partition, making it and any logic partitions it contains inaccessable.

you are allowed either 4 primary partition or 3 primary partitions and an extended partition w\ logical drives
