Dear everyone,

Sorry to interrupt the HL2 hype :)

My system:

DFI Lanparty UT 250Gb
A64 3700+ ADA3700AEP5AR
1GB PQI Turbo (TCCD)
BFG 6800 Ultra OC
Fortron 530W

I assume that NFSU:2 supports 1280x1024 since I've seen plenty playing it like so.
With my system and my 1280x1024 native res LCD monitor, it only lets me go to 1024 x 768.

I'm just getting frustrated. I've re-installed the latest official (66.93) drivers about a hundred times, but when I run "EAsy Info" from the NFSU:2 menu, it tells me that "the compatibility of this device [my 6800 Ultra] is unknown."

I've tried about the last 5 or 6 WHQL'd driver releases from Guru3D and none of them have helped. I'm convinced it's a software issue, but I don't know what it is?

Anyone with BFG 6800 series cards having problems?

Any ideas?

Thanks,

Odie :)

i have the same problem here, highest it will run is 1024x768,

my system is very similar to yours...

Anyone know how to contact EA customer support about this? All I can find is a crappy webpage with no way of getting in touch.

Just go into the config file and edit it manually...thats what I did and I would suggest running at 1280x960 not 1280x1024...reason is that 1280x960 is a true 4:1 aspect ratio

Yo people. I've discovered a fix.

If you have a nVidia card:

This should fix the problem for all 66.xx drivers. I'm now using 66.93.

1. Go into your display properties and to "Screen Resolutions and Refresh Rates"

2. Click "add" and make a new profile that's something like 1280x1024. I chose 1280x960. Color depth 32, and refresh rate dependent on your monitor.

3. Click "ok"

4. Start NFS:U2, go into Display and your custom Resolution should be there. For me it added my custom res as well as 1280x1024.

Either way. Done, and done.

Time to race!

I cant find the config file, were is it?

Follow the advice of the guy who suggested going into the Forceware panel and adding a custom res... that fixed it for me (adding 1280x960 let me go up to 1600x1200).

I'm suspecting the game doesn't pick 12x9 up as a valid res on some LCD's with the nV drivers or something, and chokes up when it tries to go to 12x9. Once you've put in that as a custom resolution, it can get past that little hurdle and go 12x10 (LCD), 16x12...
