Went from Sony MDR-V700 to ATH-AD700

Wow the comfort! I like the sound so far, and the volumes are comparable to the Sony. Everything sounds more open. I'm not sure if it's the open-air or the sound quality. There is a lot less isolation than I'd imagined. The quiet the surroundings about as much a notebook paper placed over your ears.

I wouldn't have expected much isolation from the AD700 considering it's an open headphone. But I've heard great things regarding the comfort and sound quality. If you want isolation, consider the A700. Enjoy!

You can see the typical failure of the Sony. There are several cracks in the plastic on both sides at the base of the cylinder hinge thing that connects the speaker to the band.
