Newegg is all out of good thermalright coolers, so that will be bought later....

Look good?

The motherboard and GPU are fine; you don't need to change those.

However, I recommend that you buy the faster, better Western Digital 640GB HDD for just a bit extra.

The Xigmatek HDT-S1283 performs just as well as the Thermaltake HSFs and it costs a bit less.

Which monitor/resolution are you using? You may want to wait a few weeks for the new video cards from NVIDIA and AMD/ATI to arrive.

What are the rest of the parts you're (re)using? (Please be as specific as possible.)

Please answer tiraides questions.

If you get the Xigmatek tiraides listed, get the bolt thru kit that goes with it for an additional $7.

Another alternative cooler is the ZEROtherm Nirvana.

Definitely go with the EVGA 8800GTS 512MB. I've got the KO version and its very nice.

The E8400 is a great chip, got mine to 3.6GHz with no hassle on a 780i board. However with the E8500 you can get an extra 0.5x on the multiplier so it may be worth the extra $60 if you are going for a serious overclock.

I don't agree here at all -- .5x is almost nothing, and the E8xxx chips top out well before most motherboards run out of FSB speed. DDR2-1000 is all you need to top out an E8400. Spending another $60 on +0.5 multi is kind of crazy, unless you're running phase or some other exotic cooling.

Of course, I'd be the first to say drop the dual core and pick up a quad, but I'm not going to restart that rather tired argument here.

Assuming you'd be running 500Mhz FSB SDR on an E8500, thats only 250Mhz faster clock speed than an E8400, which definately isn't worth $60, IMO.

Overclocking is more of a hobby than anything else, and I doubt the 8800gts will be capped by the e8400 at stock (in games like COD4 anyways).

Reused parts:

Got a viewsonic vx922 so won't be gaming above 1280x1024.

Got a nice big coolermaster case, forget the model, was gonna watercool so its got the front thats completely removable for a radiator.

Have a 150gig raptor, this will be my OS drive.

X-fi xtreme audio soundcard.

Got a SI-120 but will be getting a new hsf because it is old and has been lapped way too much.

Corsair 620hx psu

Did I forget anything?

Thanks for the recommendations guys. I will look into the HDD and HSF, however since I am an EVGA fanboy I will stick with the card =).

For the resolution you'll be playing at, the 9600GT would actually be the better choice for you. (Though, if you could find one for around the same price after rebates, you may want to also consider the 8800GT.)

I still recommend the WD 640GB HDD, as you could use the added storage (and use your 150GB Raptor for your OS and "critical" programs).

The LGA775 Bolt-Thru kit that enginurd is referring to can be found at several places for around $5-$7. Shipping will be the ultimate factor, so shop around.
