My A7N8X mobo has 2 IDE connetors I have a HDD(WD WD800JB) , DVD RW(NEC ND-3540A), CD(Lite On). For best performance should I have the HDD on it's own channel and have the DVD & CD share a cahnnel?

Yeap, cd drives will typically force the ide channel they are on to ata33 speeds so seperating them from the harddrives is a good idea if you can.

You can have two cd drives on one channel without any problems at all. It's mainly cd drives with Harddrives will slow you down.

Agreed, unless you plan on doing Disc to Disc copying... IDE can only transfer one way to one device at a time.

True, but I've never had a problem doing it with my dvd-rw and cd-rw on the same channel.
