Searching online I see all kinds of different sizes recommended.

Any suggestions?

What size hard drive are you partitioning? The OS itself takes up around 12GB.

50-100GB, depending on what programs you plan to install, and where you keep your files & games & such.

I finally stepped up to a VelociRaptor (80GB), so no need to worry any more. :)

I have a 65GB partition a Raid-0 array (2x 15k SAS drives).
37GB is still free.

Albeit, I moved my documents, pictures, Profiles onto a different drive off the array.

I don't know why you'd search for this answer, or ask anyone but yourself, because there is no correct answer. Ignoring the fact you didn't give nay drive details, you and only you know what you will be installing on the PC, in terms of large games, applications, etc, along with the general purpose of the computer. That will tell you the answer.

Yeah I decided I am going with a SSD 40GB drive. Lower failure rate, and faster. That should be enough and I will put the rest of my data on my 4 (500gb) HDD. Should be perfect.

Thanks guys for the input.
