I'm thinking of getting a GB of pc4000 for my computer.
My current XMS pc3200 is CH-5 and I cannot overclock past 3.0ghz on my 2.4c.
I'm convinced that my CPU can definitely do atleast 3.2GHz and it's my crappy CH-5 memory that's preventing me from booting at any FSB higher than 250MHz.
Sooo, I'm getting some new memory in an attempt to fix the problem.
I think I'll go with pc4000 to avoid any type of CH-5 problem again.

However, I'm not sure what kind to get.
I've been looking at OCZ exhanced latency and Corsair XMS platinum.

What memory should I go with if I want to run my FSB at around 270-275?

OCZ pc4400 gold with a Cl 2.5, I have the Pc4200 and it is great i can get a 301 fsb no problem

I can probably afford it. It's not much extra.
Is that the best RAM to go with?

before you blow your wad.

have you tried running your ram at 5:4 to see if its the chip or the ram?

then you will have an idea of what ram you need.

It's always been at 5:4

can you run it at a lower divider to make sure its not the chip giving out?

just trying to save you some money mate.

It could be either the chip or the memory. Try running running the FSB to memory clock even more in favour of FSB, and that will diagnose whether your CPU is limited, or you really have crappy memory. If it runs stable at a higher FSB to memory ratio, then you happen to have memory which wouldn't work at all at memory clockspeeds above stock speed. If, however, you are unable to get your system to run stable or at all at CPU clockspeeds above 3.0GHz, then you just happen to have a not-so-good CPU (or a crappier, earlier stepping or revision of that 2.4c P4).

...Crucial's "Ballistix" memory sure looks worth a look. Anand's page gave it raves, and it's very cost competitive. I just ordered two sticks to take a look at.

If you buy anything other than OCZ with pc4200 or above you are crazy, why coukld you want cl 3 instead of cl2.5

The OCZ pc4000 Gold is the fastest, yes. It got up to DDR 594 in tests.

I'll let you know my review on Friday or Saturday when my 2 sticks show up.
