It looks the same....?

Sorry, I'm really new to this, but I'm building a rig that's going to be in a place that really needs to be just a bit quiet and NOT put out much heat. I just want to cool my GPU's and my CPU...but what's the difference between these guys?

EDIT: Also, rather than make a new topic, I'll ask here.

This says it will cool both my GPUs and my CPU. I know quad cores are also LGA775, but just to make sure: Will a qx processor be compatible with this? Just making sure...

Another edit: Sorry, I'm really new at cooling >_> Anyway, from what it looks like, I can buy a "block" for my 8800GTS and install it on the card, and integrate it somehow into the Corsair Nautilus 500, cooling both the CPU and the GPU.

Correct?

Uhm... Don't even bother with a prebuilt kit if you want to put a quad-core CPU and an 8800GTS in the same loop... Nothing you've mentionned in your post will cool both of those at the silence you're looking to achieve.

If you want complete silence, (and don't plan on overclocking) you should get a dual radiator setup, with 2 yate loon fans, individual waterblocks (Dtek Fuzion CPU and whichever 8800GTS block you want) and a cheap pump like the Dtek dB-1.

Might cost a bit more, but it should have your volume.

I want to get to 3.7 GHz on my QX6850. But I'm very, very, new to water cooling. As you can guess.

So taking what you said into account...(not overly concerned about price)

Do I really need more fans? I've already got an Antec 900 case...2 140s and a 280 fan.

But anyway, you recommend getting two of these (yate loon):

A radiator:

The dtek:

And some tubes, I guess.

Am I understanding you right?

Hmm... Well, 3.7ghz on a Quad core will probably take around 1.55v. let's figure out the heat dump of such a processor

0.025 * (1.55^2) * 3700 = 222 Watts thermal. Wow, what a beast.

The 8800GTS at load should dump around another 130w into the mix, so now we're at around 352w of maximum thermal output.

While you have lots of choices for waterblocks (I suggest the Dtek Fuzion, as it works best for me), your choice for a radiator is fairly clear... It has to be big.

For every 120mm fan slot in a radiator, you can remove about 125w of heat from the loop (therefore, a double radiator would easily dump 250w, and a triple radiator would easily dump 400w). This is using a slower fan (Yate Loon 47cfm). Use a higher speed fan (65cfm) and this increases about 20%, but at the expense of higher noise. So... I'd suggest this radiator as it performs better than the rad you selected, using slower fans.

With a triple radiator you could easily use THESE yate loon fans. note, they're the slow and quiet ones. 3 of those are a perfect match for the radiator I listed earlier, and will perform almost silently.

As for tubing, I suggest Masterkleer 7/16" tubing (all other parts in the loop need 1/2" barbs...). Since it's a tiny bit smaller than the barbs, it's hard to get on, but you're almost guarenteed no leaks.

Thank you so much for your help! I'm trying to learn as much as I can about this...

So I take out the default fans in the radiator and install those yate loon fans in it? Why use slow speed fans, by the way.

Thanks for the advice about using a slightly smaller tubing. I would have never thought of that.

So with your changes, I'm all set then?

Hardcore stuff @_@ I just want to do it right...

EDIT: nevermind about taking the fans part out; I misread the item description; didn't know you had to buy the fan seperately, my bad.

Well, after your EDIT... there's really nothing else I need to say :)

Just make SURE you know how big that radiator is! It's about 16" long. Go get a ruler and make sure it fits.

Slower fans are nicer because they let you cool at a lower noise level. If you didn't care about noise, you could easily make do with a double radiator and some high speed fans... But it will be loud.

It's an Antec 900 case, so I'm sure one of those would fit in comfortably. Or at least fit somehow.

Thanks again!

Well! Everything came today...quick question >_>; This didn't come with ANY instructions or screws...does it matter which side of the radiator I screw the fans to?
