Some people suggest the BFG since it's OCed out of the box, but other people say that it has weak OC potentialcompared to other GTs.. I don't care about the noise or anything else, all I care about is performance and OC potential..

BFGs are pretty good.stick an NV5 on it and it can reach about 420/1150 at 1155 it starts to artifact

So other brands can't reach 420/1150? If they can, I guess it's useless to pay the extra $$ for the BFG right?

you can't say the majority of the cards overclock to those exact speeds...EVERY CARD OVERCLOCKS DIFFERENTLY

some can barely reach ultra speeds, others pass, some can even reach ultra extreme speeds...

ive got a BFG6800GT (PCIe tho) and i can push er to right @ 450mhz core... (on water)

hmm.. I guess if the price difference between the BFG and other brands is < 30$, I'll get the BFG one..

Why go with the 6800GT, with the release of the x800 XL. I have a PNY 6800 GT and paid $400 for it. Now if I could make the choice, I would go with the $300 x800 XL, its good isn't it? ( Though I have not researched it.) Or for appro. $430 you can buy a
ATI All-In-Wonder Radeon X800 XL Video Card, 256MB GDDR3, 256-Bit, DVI/VIVO, 8X AGP, Model "100-714500" -OEM .

if he wants a 6800gt in agp, @ outpost.com they have the 6800GT for 299 NO MIR

I have had the Leadtek GT and the Gigabyte GT. I put the NV Silencer on both and they would get up to 440/1.23 and 435/1.18 respectively. I think you can get these cards on the egg for around $365-$385. Hope this helps.

GigaByte 6800 GTs come passively cooled, can I put a Silencer v5 on that?

Gigabyte 6800 GT

That is the one I was talking about. While at first glance it looks like a passive heatsink, it actually has the fan on the other side via heatpipes.

Also, you CAN put a NVSilencer5 on it. However, the stock HS/F uses a 3-pin power connector (due to the LED by the fan) as where the Silencer uses a 2-pin power connector. As I said, it still works, but you have to force ( ) it a little. Also make sure it is on the correct two pins ;)
