Which is better for iPod?

Currently, I'm wondering on how I can improve the battery life on my iPod. I've already researched all the ways that you can help, but I'm wondering if anyone knows if the iPod is statistically rated to charge and hold charge, better on the wall charger accessory or the firewire cabled docking station?

iPods charge faster when plugged directly into A/C power i.e. the wall. I would imagine the charging method has no impact on actual charge longevity.
