The Dirt 2 packaging with HD5000 series is adding confusion to HD5000 series products.

AMD should have had all of the vendors make sure they were clear about which cards would have Dirt 2.

I want to buy a HD5000 series card but I'm not happy about having to search high and low to find the lucky box with the free dirt 2 game.

Also the Dirt 2 packaged HD5000 series cards are slightly higher priced, more frustration in pricing IMO.

Just checked the XFX site. Their 5770 comes with battleforge. Not sure if other card makers are doing that.

because it costs money to include those games and they have to decide whether it is worth it or not

I think your thread making privileges should be restricted.

there was nothing to indicate my xfx 5870's would have any bundle included but both of them had dirt 2 coupons packed in.

Here is Sapphire HD5770 3dRAGE review that describes Dirt 2 coming with the retail version HD5770.

Here is TPU review of HIS HD5770 with Dirt 2:

Newegg HIS HD5770 listing with photo of Dirt 2 on packaging:

I'm trying to figure out how AMD/ATI and the manufacturers made the deal with Code Masters as to how to distribute DIRT 2 games with HD5000 series cards.

Video card with cool free game is going to be a big reason in deciding which HD5770 to buy.

I called Sapphire about their HD5770 to verify the Rage3d review and they said that Rage3d review is wrong about Dirt 2 being included with the retail version of the HD5770.

Well except that it's an HIS card.

What is the difference other than the DIRT 2 Game?

Say Sapphire HD5770 vs HISHD5770?

Oh important....

I found out that Sapphire made 2 different versions of the HD5770.

No DIRT 2 Game on this Sapphire HD5770 $159.99

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814102858

With Dirt 2 Game Sapphire HD5770 $169.99 Dirt 2 game cost $10 more.

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814102860

So for $10 more what make the Sapphire HD5770 better?

I never said the Sapphire was better. I personally wouldn't buy either of them at that price.

edit: read your post wrong. I prefer Sappire myself, no real reason why though. XFX all the way.

HIS HD5770 has Dirt 2 for $159.99

Sapphire HD5770 RS version for $169.99 comes with Dirt 2 as well.

Which is better?

Do you like the sticker on the Sapphire card? The cards are the same otherwise. So it comes down to who offers better support I suppose.

XFX HD5770 cost $10 to $20 or more and doesn't come with Dirt 2. XFX HD5770 has the double life warranty thing going on but I'm only going to game with this vidoe card for about a year then upgrade anyways. Even if I sell it used I don't think a buyer will pay that much more for the XFX card. I wouldn't anyways.

I like the Sapphire cards from the past because of high quality capacitors and diamon chokes. Sapphire makes a really good video card.

Despite me liking the sapphire card i'm still drawn to the better deal.

Not true.

These are my Sapphire HD4770s with the high end capacitors and diamond chokes.

Not all video cards are equal in components used. The Sapphire HD4770 is a good example of this.

Sapphire could have went cheap but they didn't. They went for signature quality. At least with the HD4770.

That's a non reference design though isn't it? The only reference cooler I've seen was on the XFX card. The 5770's look like reference cards. $10 is not much more though, sounds like you already know what you want.

You spend so much time on this forum in the GPU section, you clearly look at yourself as an enthusiast. So why on earth don't you just buy a real card like the 5870/5850 and be done with it like the rest of us? Why do you continually waste your time blabbing on about these mid-range/consumer cards?

I was about to say the same thing, sonda, just get a 5870 already and be done with it. 5770 are great cards but certainly aren't enthusiast level.

The kicker is the 5770 isn't even a good buy in the enthusiast segment right now. I went 5750 cause that price point makes sense (i.e. how it fares against the GTS250, and the 4830) and it will easily meet my meager gaming needs. The 5770 is neither fish nor foul. Costs to much to be a smart buy over the GTX260/4870, and doesn't offer enough leap to jump from a GTS250 level to justify the cost. It's almost impossible to give the nod to the GTS250 over the 5750 unless your need physx/cuda. The same can't be said about the 5770 and it's competition. I'd go so far as to say the 5770 is a bad buy right now. Either grab a used 4870/GTX260 to hold you over till the 5830 drops or what not, or save till you can get a 5850.

Why get 2 5770's for Crossfire when #1 they cant even beat a 4890 (even when they are overclocked)#2 You pay $340-$350 after shipping for 2 5770's, when for a whole $379 you can get a 5870?

Makes no sense

Most obsessions don't.

There was a hot deal i posted yesterday for 2 HD5770s for around $315 out the door after Bing Cash back and coupon + low price.

Also I'm sure 2 HD5770s can destroy a single HD4890.

My Xfired HD4770s can destory single HD4890.

You are mistaken and I know why.

When ATi first sent out the original reference HD4770 it looked similar to the HD5770. Much better heat sink than the current HD4770. The true reference HD4770 also had a solid screw down ram heat sink that xfx skipped out on.

The XFX looks similar to the original ATI reference HD4770 design but it's not.

The original ATI HD4770 had more capacitors and better cooling. By the time the HD4770 was released it was gimped quite a bit.

Xfx HD4770 is not the original reference HD4770.

Now massivly overclock the 4890 and see who wins.

Yea sucks that the 4770 and 5770 just aren't all that, when compared to the 4890.

Just go with the 5870 and call it good.

Of course you have a *770 fetish you probably wont.

I played games with HD4890 and Xfired HD4470 in the same overlclocked Rig and the HD4770s won. Hence that is why I stuck with the HD4770 xfire set up. How many times do i need to tell you?.

You really need to spend some time learning how to tune the HD4890 and the HD4770s in Xfire then do your own evaluation to be clear of your confusion.

Benchmarks man.

You gotta remember no one believes anything you say unless you have proof.

I mean you have become the laughing stock of [H]ardocp.....

Proof man proof. Your eyes dont mean shit to anyone LOL

You have no proof. All you do is continually repeat false claims while i have benchmarks and photos of my RIG along with a history of discussing the hardware as I was using it.

You need to grow up. Move along kid.

LOL kid. YEs I am the one who wants someone else to flash a 5770 bios on a 4770 to see if it would brick.

You havent posted shit since the first day you came on here saying how great your 4770 and how cheap they were (even after you bought $30 heatsinks for both of them)

The only one who needs a clue, and needs to grow up is you. The sig below just shows how dense and misinformed you really are.

Any hardware enthusiast knows that single GPU >> dual GPU. To think otherwise is ludicrous, and his comments aren't far off.

People who call others kids on forums usually are ones themselves. 2x 5770 is going to be nowhere near as good overall as a single 5870, if not flat-out slower, and the 5870 isn't much more at normal prices (if you want to compare your 5770 "deal", then compare it to a $335 deal that was around for the 5870 right at its launch from TigerDirect). The benches are all over the place at various review sites showing how slow the 5770 is compared to a 5870: the 5770 is a mainstream card/lower end by far, doesn't mean it's bad but it's nowhere near the league of a 5870.

Exactly. I just bought my 5870 from Tigerdirect for $365 with cashback.

I see no point in buying 2 5770's that are slower then 1 5870.

You cant change all the r-tards in the world :/

Dashit said that 2 HD5770s in Xfire don't perform as well as a single HD4890.

I never said that the HD5770s in Xfire will out perform a single HD5870.

You are the retard that said 2HD5770s can't beat a single HD4890.
(unless you edited your comment by now.)

Yap im 1 big retard thats for sure.

Man does this retard see a 4890 beating 2 5770's in crossfire. NO WAI

The thing that you don't seem to understand is that when real tweakers get a hold of 2 HD5770s and over clock them beyond the capacity of an overclocked hd4890 the HD4890 will be left in the dust. Also don't forget about HD5770 driver problems which were discussed in that review.
