I've got an eMachines 6805, and the internal WiFi (g) keeps disconnecting. I haven't timed it, but I'd say it disconnects every 5 minuts or so. And it doesn't matter if its in use or not. It still shuts down even when I'm downloading.

Right after it does this, I can just click on the network connection and choose connect, and it connects right away. ITs tremendously annoying though.

Is this a setting I'm missing someplace?

What OS?
If its XP, are you letting XP handle wireless connections or the wireless cards software?
Turn off the service zero config and tell windows that another program will handle wireless connections.

no need. roberttran already gets the prize.

Sorry I didn't mention it was XP. As soon as I took control of the configuration away from Windows, it quit disconnecting. So now I need to use the utilities that came with the laptop to configure stuff, no big deal that is as easy to use as the Windows config was.

Thanks

another win for wireless zero config service.

*whacks it with a pole*
