Will a revamped 8800GTS work in SLI with an older 8800GTS?

Will the new 'revamped' 88800GTS with 112 SP run with the older 8800GTS model in SLI? I have my doubts, but I am certainly no experiment in this field. Could someone who is 'in tha know' shead some light on this?
