Through cyberscholor and ati pricing I can get an x850xtpe for $270, x850xt for $240 or an x800xl for $180.
I want to upgrade for cod2, quake4, and mainly tes4:Oblivion. I usually play my games in 1024x768 on medium to high settings, with AA and AF depending on the game. But I usually AA is off.
So basicly I want to be able to play games on those settings at a playable fps.
Would it be worth buying the x850xtpe? or xt? Or am I only going to see a marginal improvment from my 9800xt b/c of my current system.
I am considering upgrading to a64 3000+ venice, and dfi ultra infinity board. but thats ~$250. And would most likley get an x850xt for $240. Twice the cost, but will it provide twice the performance?
I suppose future games like quake wars, and UT2007 are also considerations. I realize sevearl of these games do not have specs released but I am more wondering if getting a new card on my current system is worth it or just a waste of money.
