win xp pro 64bit msn messenger help

I searched the forums but doesn't seem like it has been discussed yet. So I'm asking if someone can help me figure out how to get windows messenger running on 64 bit. I know version 8.1 works but for some reason when I try to install it, it says I already got a newer version installed. But I don't. I even turned off the service and deleted the messenger folder. It still gives me the error. I know 64 xp pro doesn't suppose the newest messenger which I don't understand why.. but either way I really don't want to go to the alternatives messengers (pidgin, trillian, digsby, and etc)

It be awesome if someone can help me solve this problem :D

My very last option right now to this problem is reformatting back to XP 32 bit or jump to vista 64 bit again.
 
damn it looks like it was going to work but then the stupid error reappears for having an up to date version of the messenger for which i dont even have! damn microsoft making this so difficult!
