Wiring up and LCD in a no traditional manner.

I was wondering if it would be possible to just build a box to send random signals to a salvaged LCD. maybe to get funky colors or something out of it. it could also be used in some weird way with winamp or something.

should I just try applying low power to all the various wires and see what happens? I don't wanna burn up this old LCD to just figure it out. and no, I don't wanna buy a controller for it.
