My brother is looking for a cheap laptop for e-mail, small spreadsheets, aim, internet, etc.

Specs:

*Relatively small, relatively light
*less than $500 (make offers)
*G4/G3 P4/P3/PM *AMD

Basically just a cheap internet laptop.

*He is in California, so a pickup could be arranged depending on your locale.

I am looking to upgrade to a $2000 laptop, but no one will give me around $500 shipped for my laptop package, so I have kept it.

Dell Inspirion 8100 with some updates
P3 1.13Ghz P3-M
15" 1600x1200 LCD
512 Ram
CDRW/DVD combo
ATI7500 w/ 64MB ram
100GB Seagate hard drive
MS 802.11G PCMCIA card.
Two batteries
(can both be used at same time - this is the second set of batteries, as I sold the first set and upgraded to newer, higher cap batteries)
Two Chargers
Docking Station
Spare internal HD caddy
Spare external hot swappable HD case
Hot swappable Floppy drive.

XP home and restore cd(s)

LMK.

$350+S&H (or $400 shipped, whichever is lower). My friend's laptop, in which I just put in a new screen.

15.4" Widescreen, replaced two months ago, hasn't been used since- she wants to sell it now.
512MB DDR, upgradeable to a gig or so (two slots)
30-40GB HD (not sure exact number. I can check if you're interested.)
XP3000+
Gateway
Battery still holds a decent charge. Not sure of exact time, stopped measuring after one hour. Battery was nowhere near empty.

*Backspace key needs replacement because of bad spring mounting, but registers fine
*DVD/CD-RW drive gets stuck, presumably bent rail. Anyone who knows how to properly use pliers could fix this- that's not me, too shaky! :(
