x-fi DAC vs Logi Z-500 DAC ??

HI all

I just got my X-Fi sound card today, and I will be installing it after work tonight.

For watching movies, anyone know which DD/DTS decoder is going to be better? The one on the X-Fi, or the one in my Logitech Z-5500 speakers?

I believe that both are THX certified... Any thoughts?
 
Yeah, I thought of this. I think the most likely outcome of this will be that either one sounds drastically better, or they are hard to tell apart.

Should be interesting!
 
wag, i don't think you'll hear a difference, because your speakers are going to be the limiting factor in the equation, not the dac...

but i'd try it anyway... never hurts to experiment... :)
 
Ok, if anyone is interested - to MY ears the DD/DTS decoder in my z-5500s sounds alot better than the one on my new X-Fi.

But for listening to music, the "Crystalizer" and "CMSS" features of the soundcard completely blow away the DD Prologic II upmix feature of my speakers. It just souinds fantastic.
