x1600xt 512mb or x850pro 256mb

so like the title says which is faster, the x1600xt 512mb or the x850pro 256mb.. both are agp... i've been out of the whole computer thing for a year since i got my car and its tough finding answers fast lol.. thanks guys

I'm not entirely sure which is faster, but I don't beleive the x850 has support for shader model 3(hopefully someone can verify this), whereas the x1600 does. I'f i'm right, I'd go with the x1600xt just for that.
 
No no no no no. The X850PRO is loads faster than the X1600XT. I wouldn't get an X1600XT just for SM 3.0 considering no games currently require it. Unless you need to have HDR or SM 3.0, get the X850PRO.
 
I have a X800XT and I'm gonna skip this gen of video cards. Once the R600 comes out, I'll shell out the bucks for ATi's top of the line. Until then, I'll just stay addicted to Civ 4 :)
 
Correct me if I am wrong but I thought the X1600XT was PCIE only!?! Only the PRO variant was available in AGP!?!
 
x850pro. X1600xt and SM 3.0 is the same situation as the 5200 and DX9. Sure it supports it, if your idea of supporting it is a slideshow. The x850pro is an all around faster card. In synthetic benchmarks X1600XT will show as slightly faster than the x850pro, but in real world use, the x850pro will be faster. the x850pro is also overclockable as all hell, and can sometimes be unlocked to an X850XT
