A client's son tanked the hell out of his PC. A field day for virii. So, after cleaning the crap out, IE7 is throwing a "cannot display the webpage" error.
I've run the "Network Diagnostics for Windows XP " and here's the result:
Yes, the test log says "Good to Go!":
Yet, the real test - Can I get to www.microsoft.com - Fails.
What I've done so far:
I hope someone out there can shed some light on this, as I'm coming close to reinstalling the %$#@*ing OS. Any help that can be offered will be greatly appreciated.

What I've done so far:
- I've cleared the browser cache
- Used HijackThis to remove any obvious BHO's
- Reset Internet Explorer Settings - usually one of the last things to do.
- Malwarebytes can phone home and download updates
- Avast Antivirus can phone home and download updates
- Mcafee was installed - removed that.
- Removed some Verizon crapplication that seemed to be gumming up the works.
- Removed WildTangent itshay
- more to follow.
