im buying this card soon:

eVGA 512-P2-N570-AX 7900GTX @Newegg

Is this a good card? I read from other post that the 7900 series have problems lately so is this the new revision? Newegg is selling it for $514.99 ($484.99 AR). Any other place that sells it cheaper? Thanks.

I'd imagine that you're going to get mixed opinions. Personally, I've had no problems with my 7900GT. It just seems to be hit or miss when it comes to that card. From reading the board though, it sounds as though most of the cards have been revised and no more problems. If you're willing to fork out that amount of money on a video card to make you happy then I say go for it. If the card doesn't work out...you can RMA it for another until they get it right. My .02

Also, you might check ebay for cheaper prices. I'd be willing to bet that there are several used GTX cards out there since the release of the 7950. ;)

NO!

That is the old card that Evga is replacing with the 512-P2-N571-AR. The N570-AX might
have "bad" memory chips in it.

Check this page out. The Evga cards marked with "Fixed" are the new ones. Put your
mouse over the card name to see the model number.

EVGA e-GeForce 7900 GTX EGS
__512-P2-N571-AR=New
__512-P2-N570-AX=Old

EVGA e-GeForce 7900 GTX Superclocked
__512-P2-N572-AR=New
__512-P2-N575-AX=Old

Not a wise decision in my opinion, not with the 7950 selling as low as $520 after rebates on newegg.

This is why i like this forum, lots of help so thanks guys. Mentok, thanks for the info on the new and old versions.

Yea, i think i saw a 7950gx2 for $510 on the forums here. Much better deal IMO. Also, WOW, thats gonna be sweet to have. (Either) Also, did you look into the X1900XTX?

I was thinking of the X1900XTX since it performs slightly better than the 7900GTX on some games and a lil cheaper , but i lost interest when i read about the noise and temp. The GPU will go into the Microfly so i try to stay away from higher temps. If i can get the GX2 for close to the price of the GTX then i'll definitely go for it. Quick question, is the GX2 High Def Compliance?

Yeah for 500 large you certainly should be looking at a 7950 or even 1900xtx. Also I hope the rest of your system components are appropriate for that level of gpu
