it's the third-to-top nvidia card (320mb GTS) vs the second-to-top ATI card. considering the ATI card is at a similar price point to the $300 GTS, the comparison is more than fair. i don't like your opinion.

umm, i found this to be a valuable review, nvidias lowest end card so far in the g80 series vs ati top dog, I found it interesting to see how 320mb performed in higher texture games like oblivion, why wouldn't they do this review? Same price point cards I want to know which one is better idk about you

Hard OCP does reviews based on "gameplay-ability" of similar priced cards.

Ever since they've adopted that policy, their reviews have become intrinsically more valuable.

"Apples to apples" for [H] is pricepoint, not percieved power level.

These 8800s will drop down to about 250 in a few weeks, right there with the X1950xt.

since when is a crappy x1950xt 256mb second to top ATI card?, even a x1900xtx 512mb will own it hard

Okay, third.
X1950XT/X 512MB ==> 8800GTX 768MB
X1900XT/X 512MB ==> 8800GTS 640MB
X1950XT/X 256MB ==> 8800GTS 320MB
X1900XT/X 256MB ==> 8800GT?

Or have we forgotten something?

Ati's top dog? a x1950xt 256mb is top dog? wtf are you high?

This is skating close to an, "i just like ATI/other better" thread. The comparison isn't which similar powered cards work better, its a bang for the buck comparison.

you can't compare it like that, u have any idea how stupid that is? I can get a x1900 xtx 512mb for $260 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16814102671R on the egg but does that mean it'll perform the same as the 8800 gts 640mb? no!
alright. that's an open box item. doesn't count.

here's an x1900xt for $335 (new)
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16814121041

here's another 8800 gts for $290

oh looky! an 8800gts for $300.
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16814130082

another for $285 after rebate:

the only result of your flamebait post is to highlight your ignorance. you are bitching about a review of the 320mb 8800 GTS, not the 640mb GTS. the review of the 320 mb 8800 GTS included results from the 640mb as a direct comparison. it would be stupid not to make this comparison as a lot of people wonder about what the difference in memory size makes. results from the x1900xt were included because IT SELLS FOR THE SAME PRICE AS THE 8800 GTS 320mb. OK? Please stop posting now.

Personally I would prefer apples to apples and I've been gaming for years.

And what magical fairy has told you that they will drop to 250 in a few weeks? If nVidia dropped 50 dollars on their videocards every FEW weeks. Everyone would be using 8800 GTX right about now!

Except you because you are obviously enamored with ATI. Shouldn't you be at Toms Hardware right now?

I've purchased many open box items from the egg and they have all been problemless.
your second link points to a x1950xt 512mb for 289.99 not a 8800 GTS we can all thank you for that Mr. namecaller! :rolleyes: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16814102082

Waiting for a 15 dollar rebate to arrive in 4~12 weeks is a not a sensible idea

The cheapest x1950xt 256mb is 229.99 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16814102067 it is not similar in price with the 8800 gts at all

The MSRP fairy. The card's been out for like, 2 days... That's the MSRP for it right now.

The street price will be closer to 260 in a week or two... Just as the 640mb version did.

LOL

point out where I called you a name and you get a cookie :p

why? can't u read the forum u know exactly what you typed.

but hey, at least I'm not a dumb ass who saw a x1950xt 512mb and claim it as a 8800 gts 320mb:rolleyes: and I don't have to edit my posts to make it so desperate

Then go to some other review site...

If you don't like the [H] philosophy, no one's forcing you to read their stuff...

I do go to some other review site. I only read it cause I was bored but I still have no clue how well it'll compare vs a x1950xtx 512mb (similar price levell card thanks to Zinn!) and the 640mb version of the GTS at 1600x1200 4xAA, and 16x HQAF because it's just not apples to apples

I don't edit my posts.

Except you because you are obviously enamored with ATI. Shouldn't you be at Toms Hardware right now?

I've used 6800GT sli, and 7800 gt SLi setups before I have a x1900xtx on my computer, I'm only here because I saw something that is just not fair and stupid to begin with, not because I'm ENARMORED with ATI as you would call it. BTW nice flaimbaiting Zinn! :rolleyes:

If the 8800GTX was priced at $100, it would be compared to whatever ATI has at that price. Doesn't matter if its in the same 'league'. Bang for the buck. That's all there really is to know about how the system works.

If prices don't drop on the 8800 GTS 320mb to 260 in a week or two, I'm holding you responsible! :)

You are a great source of entertainment at this late hour. Take it or not, my cookie offer stands if you can point out any place where I called you a name. :)

I don't think I'll have to make good on that offer though. I disputed pretty much everything you said but I did not resort to calling you "dumb ass" repeatedly.
