I think you need to look at your requirements and make absolutely sure that a custom (or even boxed) solution is what you need. From what I can tell so far, you're just selling photos. Flickr offers a premium account that would allow you to charge for photos based on your own requirements. They...
Did you use the bolt through kit? How did you apply the thermal paste? I'm using pins and used the five dot method.. 10+ degree difference between core 0 and core 3. Under load core 0 hits high 60s. I did something wrong :/
I got the pro mainly because I was already over budget on my components. The vanilla P5Q has an inconvenient layout so this was the obvious next choice at only 10 bucks more. It does everything I need, so I'm happy :D
Just thought I'd pop in and give some input. This board has really impressed me, managed the overclock in my sig with no effort at all. Ran stable and cool right from day one! Highly recommend to anyone considering.
I just went from an opteron 165 @ 2.5 ghz to a q6600 @ 3.4 ghz on a P5Q (P45). Doubled the ram from 2gb to 4gb as well. I'd say it was worth it, runs cooler and quieter than my opty. Much, much more power to work with as well.
Yeah and it has a bigger cache. The only problem is the multiplier is 8 instead of the 6600's 9 so you really won't get better overclocks as most boards and ram top out on fsb anyway.
That said, if you have the cash go for the 9450. For a motherboard I'd recommend the P5Q series, it just came...
I actually ended up trading my current mobo+processor for it so I had to buy a new heatsink anyway. Went for the Xigmatek HDT-S1283, which is now on it's way along with a P5Q-Pro. I didn't see a retention bracket though; it comes compatible stock, just with the push-pin setup...
I'll update...
Well I could pick up a new heatsink but why? I'd spend another $50 on that which is halfway to the Q9450, and I wouldn't get any of the processor benefits. If the XP-120 will cool a 9450 but not a 6600 then my decision is made.
Watch the 9550 come out at the end of the month for the same...
Hey guys, I'm about to order a new build but I'm a little conflicted.. Here's what I originally had:
Q6600 with an XP-120 (Tricool)
Asus P5Q Pro
Patriot Viper Series PC2-6400 4GB (2 x 2GB)
P180
EVGA 9600GT
My absolute main concern here is heat. I'm looking to get an overclock of...
This is great, I run dual monitor as well. Replace CSS (for now anyway) with Cod4 andthat's pretty much my average task list.
Definitely going with a quad. I told myself I wouldn't overclock too much but who am I kidding. Besides, if it's stable at higher temps then who's gonna know? Once...
