I was running two MCP-355s, but both of those have failed since, and I'm left without a gaming machine in the meantime. The new MCP35X looks alright, but for $100 I'd like to know it's up to the task. If it fares well, I may purchase a second in the next 6 months to a year for dual loops again...
I'm running two core 216 GTX 260s, but the bandwidth just isn't there for most games. While I've been fine playing at 1080p for the past few months, with AMD's HD 6990 around the corner, it's time to start thinking about an upgrade. An added benefit of the single card is that it's cheaper to...
I simply don't have room for this beast of a case any more, but I'm sure someone can make use of it.
It's the mirror black finish Extended U2-UFO with 3 big window panels, horizontal motherboard brace (for horizontal mounting), standard back, and duality front. Great condition, -- $350
2x evga...
What do I need to do to to set these up in RAID 0 and install my operating system. I've looked on OCZ's forum, but the only guide I find is for a single drive.
Two of my three radiators are leaking. I assume it would only be a matter of time before all there were affected, so I'd like to figure out what's wrong and resolve it.
The radiators involved are a Swiftech MCR220, MCR320, and MCR320 stack.
The stack has been plugged and is being used as a...
The only modern drive in my system is a 1.5TB Seagate.
For the most part, I'm just looking for improved system responsiveness, faster load times, etc..
I could buy another 1.5TB Seagate and pair them in a RAID array, or I could get an SSD.
From what I've gathered, OCZ's Vertex series is...
The last time I was in the market for a receiver, Onkyo's 605 was the popular budget choice. I want something with similar processing capabilities but with more HDMI inputs and (if it can be had for around the same price) better audio quality.
Cool-running is also a plus, as the 605 runs hot.
I was playing a game, then all of a sudden, my computer crashed. It cycled itself and began to boot, then a "plink" sound followed by a small burst of flame and a puff of black smoke -- scared me half to death. I would late come to find that the "plink" sound was the heatsink hitting the case...
From what I've used, it seems that most applications will only support one card. Is there any way to leverage the power of more than one card simultaneously with applications like Badaboom?
I'm ashamed to admit it, but before now, I've never bothered calibrating my displays, so I have no idea what I'm doing.
As you can imagine, I want to get the most out of this display, and I'm not at all opposed to buying calibration hardware if it's called for. For now though, I'd like to try...
Currently, I have two GTX 260s occupying the first and third slot. I'd like to add in my 9800GTX as a PhysX processor. I've got two options: I can either move the second GTX 260 to the second slot and install the 9800GTX in the third, or I can install the 9800GTX in the second slot. Will it make...
I've got an 8-pin ATX 12v extension that I'm trying to sleeve. Using a pin removal tool, the male-side pins come out fine, but I can't seem to figure out the female side.
Ideas?
I've been looking for a new case for some time now, and I really like the Mountain Mods offerings. I've petty much got it narrowed down to two choices: the Ascension and the U2-UFO.
I really like the cube form factor of the U2-UFO, but I think the Ascension's added cooling capabilities would be...
I'm interested in mounting radiators on the ourside of my case, specifically at the top. I've seen this done with spacers on screws. Where would I get these nylon spacers? Alternatively, what about using a Radbox or similar to keep the rads away for the case so they can push air?
Just received my RMA a while back. Channel one no longer works, and channel two intermittently fails, producing a loud high-pitched whine to let me know. :(
What other controllers should I look at?
The only thing that stands out is that one contains the NF200 chip, while the other doesn't. Is this the only significant difference, or is there more? If it's just the NF200, I'll save the money.
One of the cables doesn't work. When wiring up the other cable, my LED lighting is considerably dimmer than when wired directly to the power supply. They ought to have included instructions.
What gives? I over-payed and it doesn't work.
The sleeving does not go all the way into the unit as depicted in photographs, but rather stops around an inch short. In addition to this, the plastic ring surrounding the cables does not and will not sit flush with the housing. While minor issues, given the price that I paid for this thing...
Where's the current sweet spot for two striped drives. The Western Digital 640GB drives seem popular, but there are 1TB drives for not much more. Do most of the 1TB drives in that price range have lower platter density than the WD 640GB?
I know the 640GB WD drives have two platters, but most...
I've read that they need to deliver lots of pressure, but I can't find any numbers on the fans that I've seen.
I need an open-corner design.
Thanks. :)
I'm not that well versed in mechanical trades, but I know that many of you are.
I'm putting my PC together, and I need to use various screws, but I don't know where to start, or what to get.
I've got a couple of MCR320 radiators that I need to attach fans to. The thread of the screws will...
I have a Gigabyte GA-EX58-UD5, an overclocked core i7, and two GTX 260s. For a pump I've got an MCP655 with an EK Waterblocks acetal top.
If I were to cool both sets of mosfets, the northbridge and southbridge with a full block, my processor, and both graphics cards, would I need two loops?
The installation involves screwing three fans into one of the radiators (they fail to specify which, it is simply referred to as "the first radiator") and then installing plastic snap rivets through the other side of the fans into the other radiator.
The fans pictured have a sort of "open...
Does anyone know if there are any ray tracing programs (like POV-Ray) that can utilize the GPU for acceleration? I'm not sure how it would work -- I think GPUs are only single precision, and I think you'd want/need double precision, but I figured I'd ask.
My Gigabyte GA-EX58-UD5 has an appropriately placed PCI-E 1x slot, but it looks as if the northbridge heatsink may be in the way.
Are there any boards that can accommodate this setup?
For games, music, movies, everything.
My soundcard is giving me nothing but trouble (static in games, but not (to my knowledge) in anything else). The sound sucks anyway.
For a while I used onboard optical to the headphone output of my receiver, but that doesn't allow for positional audio --...
I currently have a BFG ES800 (Aside from some cosmetic case defects, I'm extremely pleased with the unit).
I will definitely be running:
Motherboard: Gigabyte GA-EX58-UD5
Processor: Core i7 920 overclocked to around 3.6GHz, possibly higher
Video cards: 2x GTX 260 core 216 (55nm) in SLi (will...
My previous phone was a Samsung Blackjack.
I'm finally eligible for an upgrade (after having my previous phone stolen), so I'm ready for a new phone.
To be perfectly honest, I used my phone more for browsing the Internet than I did making phone calls.
I think I can get a refurbed iPhone for...
I recently purchased two GTX 260s that I intend to water cool, but first, I need to know what components need to be cooled.
So fa, I have the GPU itself (water block) and the RAM (Enzotech BMR-C1 ramsinks) taken care of, but I'm sure there is more.
How can I tell what components need to be...
I have 2 new GTX 260s that I need to cool, but aside from the GPU itself, I don't know what I need to cool these things.
Out of all of this, what should I buy and how many?
