I replaced the fan with a better fan i had in house. a vantec I believe. slightly larger, but only 3% more power consumption. its even quieter.

I currently have a ATi brand 9800 Pro AIW, from 2004.4 year. no problems thus far. however, it seems a bit dated. what would be the impact diff in performace vs. an ATi X1300 Pro 256 MB?
