I know I've seen a fair amount of 24 port gigabit switch recommendations. How about for 48 ports for a home network that's 99% gigabit. Need at least 6 link aggs (2 ports per - static or LACP capable). Something nice and stable. Under $600 or so.
Fun part of looking on-line is most places...
Hoped over to the MSI site today and saw an updated BIOS for the Big Bang XPower with the following info:
- Update CPU micro code.
- Improved memory compatibility.
- Support 2.2TB HDD.
- Support OCZ PCIE SSD card.
Figuring it to be all good, I updated my two XPower boxes. One has Corsair...
Living in So. CA, the summers can be brutal and if past Department of Water & Power bills where any examples, these three words struck fear in my bank account given I've had two systems running at least the GPU clients 24/7. My normal summer W&P bills would have any reasonable person sputtering...
I know Corsair recommends having air drawn in through and into the case. As much as I try to keep things dust free, it happens so I end up cleaning systems when I open them or at least every quarter. Does anybody have any tips on keeping the radiator relatively clean? Perhaps an air filter on...
Dang it. Two single hex I7 systems vs one dual hexa SR-2 and a potential system to game on so as not to disturb the PPD/Science consuming deamon....
What drives this madness?! What will my next power bill be like with 2 c2q's with a 460 and one with a 480? I fear that. My systems run 24/7...
Is there a setting somewhere users can select that changes how messages are "aged" where I could mark sections as read versus based on idle time? For instance, I started reading messages, got distracted by issues at work and when I come back to my still open HardForum tab, messages that were...
Just cleaned the panel for the first time since buying this monitor (love this puppy!) and noticed i can push in the top two corners a small bit. I'm not sure if it's the actual panel itself or something in front of it. It just spooked me a bit and had me looking for panel quirks in the area...
I've got an original CM Stacker beastie (STC-T01-UBK) with a crossflow fan to help cool things down. I'm toying with the idea of getting a GX2 for some insane reason. I know this card should fit without the crossflow fan but would it fit with it? I know the 8800GTX fits without issue. But...
Anybody know what the maximum wattage or amperage the fan headers can take on a GA-X48-DQ6? I'd like to slap a 4 to 6W 120mm x 38mm fan on the CPU fan header and attach it to a TRUE. Could go with the fan control on the mobo if I did.
Thanks!
Just put together a Gigabyte X48-DQ6 with a 9450 with a lapped TRUE, 8GB of G.Skill 1066MHz DDR2. MemTest86+ was happy so off to Vista 64 install. Installed Everest Ultimate 4.5 and idle, I see about 32C with core temps of 50, 50, 42 and 42. Prime 95 load hits CPU temp of about 42 and core...
As my eyes go blurry from searching for posts that might shed some light, I am wondering if anyone could may have some feedback as far as text readability goes in typical native resolutions for a 30" monitor (without font/DPI adjusting and whatnot). I'm trying to figure out how things might be...
Been sitting here thinking of replacing 4 1GB 1066MHz Ballistix that I had to drop 'em down to 800MHz to get a stable system (after a month of working at 1066MHz). I saw the thread on the G.Skill PC8000 2x2GB sticks and the price looks sweet. But I'm eyeballing these...
Looking for suggestions. :\ I built a system using Gigabyte's GA-P35-DQ6, 4 sticks of Ballistix 1066MHz DDR2, G0 Q6600 with lapped Thermalright Ultra 120 Extreme, PCP&C 750W power supply, EVGA 8800GTX and the usuals (dvd burner, etc). All stashed in an older Stacker. Stock clocks and...
After a search on the net and here for some answers and not finding a definitively answer, here comes a question.
I was planning on removing old hardware out of an old STC-T01 stacker and slapping in a new mobo, Q6600 with an Ultra-120 Extreme. Given the width of the STC-01 and the height of...
As if I didn't have enough systems in this room, I did something stupid and added another but this time my first SFF using an A8N-VM CSM, Opteron 170, Aspire X-QPack, 2GB Corsair sticks, HD, and the typical recommended Lite-On DVD drive for these beasties. I stuck with the stock power supply as...
The words "Wake up! There's an electrical smell in the house!" is something that'll wake you right up! Those are the words I woke up to yesterday and immediately booked it to the room that has my A64 based systems. My first A64 build of 1.4 years apparently wanted death by fire. :\ This was...
Can anyone suggest a decent/good 4 port usb or ps/2 KVM that'll let all the wonderful features of Logitech's drivers work? Just got a new MX1000 and SetPoint won't even display a MyMouse tab to configure the mouse with the mouse plugged into a Raritan 4 port PS/2 KVM. :\ If there's a way to...
I seem to be involved in a build from hell. Seems I've been having fun with the Stacker case for one. This week's earlier I/O plate fun could have been prevented had I saw this bracket mentioned in the ATX to BTX conversion section but nowhere else. Since I still need to replace the...
Forgive me if this is a question that has been asked already but I searched with various terms and didn't find the droids I was looking for.
I bit the bullet this week and got the components for a spiffy new A64 FX-53 system based on the Gigabyte GA-K8NSNXP-939, Coolermaster Stacker (hurry...
I know Intel's got their new Xeons cranking now and new mobos should be out soon (eyeballing the Supermicro X6DA8-G2). But what's happening and upcoming in the Opteron dually mobo world? Anything due out in the next month or so?
I've got a couple of aging dually slot 1 PIII systems starting...
