My XBOX 360 Died after 10 minutes when i got home!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Yep last night i got home at 12:20 and fired it up, set it all up put in Madden then the screen froze, i said to myself that was wierd rebooted put in Project Gothem loaded in screen Froze, messed around with it for 2 hours and got completely pissed so i went upstairs and put a bunch of C4 on my truck in BF2 and drove into a spawn and hit the plunger, i felt a little better. I woke up and blew off work today and went over to Gamestop and talked to the manager, he actually felt pretty bad considering i bought 7 games, 2 joysitcks, wireless network adapter and a Plug and Charge adapter for the wireless controllers, He then went in the back of the store and came out with another system. I was freaking shocked!! I was like kissing his ass and thanking him and he just said, since i pre-bought a ton of games both PC and Xbox and im a loyal customer he was gonna bump one of the people that never returned any of the store calls to let them know to come in, he said that 3 people had their phones dissconected and he wasnt gonna chase anyone down. Man im lucky and this system is rocking, the thing that impresses me the nmost so far is the Audio by far.
 
Your luckier than I am, my system is shot and I am going to have to do the support shuffle. Will probably have to wait forever to get a system as well.
 
Remove the hard drive and put a big fan pointing towards its air holes. A lot of people are coming home to these overheating problems.
 
Great i wonder if my second sytem will die as well, LOL arent consoles supposed to be nice and friendly unlike how PCs can act sometimes. For a second i thought maybe i will stop overclocking and turn down the CPU volatage... oh wait thats my PC not the XBOX360.
 
I had heard of heatsinks getting jarred off during shipping. However I would let bill take care of it
 
this is one of the reason why i always wait for the 2nd batch of consoles.. 1st batch is the guinea pig.. once the company get enough complaints about their system, they fixed and released a 2nd batch.. sometimes they dont and dont care. /sigh.. but yup my 2nd batch ps2 and xbox was still going strong.. :D
 
I hate when this happens. M$ rushed out the 360's probably knowing a high percentage of them would be defective and wait unitl the collective consumer has a gun to their head to fix it.

Companies that do this should be punished with lost sales and criminal punishment.

But of course, nothing will happen and they will continue to screw us. My only hope is that Texas succeeds in sueing Sony for the whole rookit fiasco.
 
We had a problem with 2 of our 8 games getting a "disc read error" and then quitting on us back to the dashboard .... BUT .... since we unpacked the 360 being very careful and hooking it up, reading all the directions AND avoiding touching the disc directly only handling it by the edges, ... not sure what to think about it. Could be settled dust on the lense of bad game discs.

If it continues to happen I will return the games first ... then if it continues after that, I will send the system in.

So far I am blown away.

I like you was very careful with everything. I returned the game and got a new one and have the same problem, I think it is the console.
 
I would be so pissed if I waited 12 hours in the rain and the thing broke on me the first day of playing.

Dude, thhat sucks, I feel bad for you man. Mine works fine...played it for a while last night, been playing it all morning, I've tried every feature it has to offer...downloadable demos, etc...music, ripping, movies, 360 games, and xbox 1 games....guess I got lucky.

The "liquid cooling" inside the XBox 360 is nowhere near water cooling. Either way, I'm sure this isn't a widespread problem to get "lucky" to not have it. It's probably a minor issue, but it is a reported issue. Those who have tried to get it resolved have met with a "please wait till the next shipment and we'll exchange it", or similar from calling MS. But most who have had this issue have speculated that it's overheating.

Some have even tried putting their boxes in the freezer - and when they come out, they work for an additional 15-20 mins. But I wouldn't recommend doing so. Best thing to try is removing the hard drive, and putting some serious external cooling facing the vents. You may get it to work a little longer that way, until MS can replace your box. Be sure to call them and let them know, and make it clear that you're not happy to be one of their guinnea pigs.

I have to agree. I'm sure you all remember the issues with PS2 launch. Many launch day consoles have had issues in the past.
 
The system was most definately rushed. You can't expect to have no issues. That doesn't mean that it's OK, though. MS shouldn't have rushed it so much in the first place, there wouldn't be so many if they had taken a bit more time.
 
Why rush to try to get them out before holiday when half of them won't work and it'll piss people off? Beats me how they think...
 
No, I'm not....but I do think its pretty lame of them to ship out a product with these issues....that's R&D shit right there....
 
Mine works great :D, really diggin this system. I just might pay for the longer warranty though......

I'm so glad to hear that customer service is alive still at many stores. Most of these types of stories end up as a scene from a horror film.

Mine is working strong and fine too. It's too easy for many people to make such generalizations when these are often very isolated events. People really don't go out of their way to tell everyone how good something is, yet they are much more likely to start ranting at every internet website if they have an unpleasant experience. I'm personally going to opt for that warranty because it's a good deal for me. I game like crazy and my system will see good use.
 
No doubt and im even more happy just got home from FAMILY VIDEO i was the first person to rent some 360 games, i picked up FIFA ( THIS GAME IS AWESOME!!!!!!!), Condemened ( pretty solid title ) ,NHL2K6 ( Decent game id buy it at $29.99), and GUN ( Looks like my PC version). Well no im really waiting for DOA4 that is one of my favorite fighting series of all time. That and a little Biride told me Soul Calibur 3 ReMix is coming to the 360!
 
i'm not surpised at all at some of the x-boxe's crudding out.i'm a gamer,but i'm not stupid enough to pay $300-$400 bucks to buy one.common sense tells you something is going to go wrong with the first 1,000 units.
 
man.. i'm just amazed that you cats have sooooo much money to spend on this stuff... boggles me.. boggles me..
 
I guess the kiosks weren't totally to blame for the demo 360s overheating. :rolleyes:

Glad that you like the system, I'll be waiting for a while before I get one (I'm waiting for some decent games atleast) if I get a 360 at all.

The thing is that this is relative. For some people, they are willing to take that chance in order to get something they have been enthusiastically waiting for. I decided to take my chance, will will definately be getting the 2yr extended warranty offer that came in the xbox360 box.
 
Forget customer service, if its broken take it back to the store and RETURN it. Get yo monai back. By the weekend most stores will have stock again.

Im just waiting for the first internal pictures. Who has got the guts to crack that clam open and reseat the HS? Come on, this is the [H] and you got a 4 day weekend of gaming comming up!
