Well, I recently sold my 9800pro looking to get a new card. Ive been running off of a Geforce 3 for quite some time and Its getting real old real fast. I have roughly $300 to spend on a new card, I have been leaning towards the Asus 6800GT 128MB for $320 at the egg. Should I go ahead and order this, or is there any chance that the X800Pro will drop in price, or the X800XL will come in an AGP version sometime next month?

I'd get that or a regular 6800nu on sale.

I got 2 PNY 6800's in the past month both for over $100 less than that card.

1 at Compusa BF sale for $229 - $30 MIR = $199
and then I bought one for a friend when I happened to see it in Fry's for $229.

Both of them overclocked to about 380/800. And mine softmodded to a 6800gt.

I havent tried to soft mod the other one since its in my friends machine, but Im going to step him through it over the phone. I bet it will work too.

basically, that card is just a 6800nu that they tested and found out that all 16 pipes work, so they're selling it as a GT. Its the same card I got for $100 cheaper and is now working like a GT.

got 4043 in 3dMark2005 with my 6800nu http://service.futuremark.com/compare?3dm05=406389
10.1k in 3dmark 2003
16.6k in 3dmark 2001

with ati having yield issues on chips i doubt prices will go down much .

get the 6800 .. its worth it.

might as well go ahead and take the plunge, i'll be doing it myself soon enough. waiting for prices to fall a lil' bit.
