I tried reading about the new 790GX/SB750 motherboards and I wondered, is it really worth the wait? I saw one article in bit-tech when they compared a SB600 board OC to a SB750 board oc.. and their results were:

SB600 :
9850 = 2.80 Ghz
8750 = 3.00 Ghz
5000 = 3.00 Ghz

SB750 :
9850 = 3.20 GHz
8750 = 3.20 Ghz
5000 = 3.12 Ghz

Is that really a noticeable overclock? Like ok the X4 went up by 400Mhz, X3 by 200Mhz and the X2 by 120Mhz. They said the X3 was able to boot y 3.3Ghz but couldn't get into Windows. So my question is, is it really worth it to wait for the 790GX/SB750 board? or just get the DFI 790FX/SB600 y $140 bucks? Any input is greatly appreciated. I know I just looked y the numbers and probably missed an important point. I just want to make a decision soon since I see the Gigabyte 790GX will be in stock soon! But yet again the DFI DK board has always been in stock.

Feature-wise, whats the main difference between the 2 SB's? More sata ports? I know the 790GX have onboard video which I probably wont use since I already have a 780G board I can always use if i need onboard. Thanks guys!

i had an asus ASUS M3A32-MVP Deluxe WiFi-AP Edition 790fx mobo, but sold it to buy my DFI JR 790gx-M2RS. I think the overclocks are worth it, especially since it's an AMD product. 400mhz doesn't seem like much on the intel side of things, but it's a huge jump for AMD's side. Biggest factor for me was the sb750's oc ability, but also matx crossfire. ;p

Another advantage of the SB750 over the SB600 (when using the
Phenom's) is ACC which doesn't work with SB600...

Using ACC you get that higer O'clock with less voltage and therefore
less heat...

SB750 is vastly supirior...

Keep in mind though that, at least at the moment, ACC only works
with Phenom's and the new 45nm's when they come out... There is
no word on whether it will ever work on other CPU's... ;)
