I have noticed the gpu fan does not work at times when is it in use. I once saw it reach over 105c and the fan speed was around 20%. I had to enable manual fan control then disable manual fan control in order for it to start working again.

i have noticed it doing this after system starts from hibernation. I am not sure yet if it does the same thing on a normal boot.

Any ideas?

I have this problem with 10.12 and the latest beta drivers.

I would use MSI Afterburner.
Set it to start with Windows and enable the user defined automatic fan control.

Dunno what the ambient temps are in your house, but fuck me in the ass if I would EVER let my card get above 80°C without investigating what the hell is going on and making appropriate changes.

Hell, I had MSI Afterburner downloaded and waiting to be installed 2 days before my 6970s even arrived...

Yeah 105c is def bad.

I would imagine not all 6970 users are having this issue though.

Are your temps normal when the fan is working properly?

When the fan is working as it should the temps will idle at 55c ~ with 500mhz on idle because i use dual view and on load around 75c with 22c room temp.

To produce this problem this is what you have to do:

Can you try this method please?

1. Open control center and untick allow web content and show this page on startup
2. Go to overdrive page
3. Press X
4. Hibernate PC
5. Start up the system and fire up furmark to see if the fan speed plays up.

Try it 2-3 times to see if you get this same problem.

Thanks
